I am an experienced Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga and  Birthlight™ Perinatal Yoga Teacher who has practiced yoga regularly for 21 years and taught yoga for 18 years. I have a gentle approach to dynamic yoga practice and incorporate bodywork developed as a Thai Yoga Massage Practitioner. I have a background in communications and public relations for NGOs working on human rights and environment issues and I am also a qualified Cambridge CELTA English Teacher. 

I took my first yoga class in my early twenties in Byron Bay, Australia, in 1997, and began exploring yoga more deeply in the ashrams of Rishikesh, India later that year before moving to Lao PDR, to work in education and environmental conservation. I was fully immersed in Buddhist and Lao traditional culture for the next four years and the gentle society, compassionate people and natural way of living fundamentally influenced my outlook on life. In 1999, I began teaching yoga classes in Vientiane, Lao PDR, thanks to the encouragement of my Sivananda Yoga teacher Sally Sizemore.

I left Laos in 2000 to qualify as a Yoga Teacher at the Sivananda Yoga Ashram in Val Morin, Canada, which involved completing a month-long ashram-based teacher training. I then stayed on at the ashram for extra months teaching yoga and cooking, an experience which provided me with an important foundation for developing my yoga practice and teaching.

I moved to London and began teaching full-time yoga classes from 2001-2008. I apprenticed in daily Mysore Style Ashtanga Yoga under the inspirational guidance of Hamish Hendry, Roberta Giannotti, Denise Christian and Anna Wise, practicing yoga 5 days a week, assisting and teaching classes at Astanga Yoga London. From 2001-2008 in London, I also taught yoga classes at The Sivananda Yoga Centre, The Shala, The Life Centre and The Special Yoga Centre; in company offices including UBS, Aviva, Tiger Aspect Productions, and British American Tobacco; in fitness centres and spas – Virgin Active, LA Fitness and Champneys; and hotels e.g. KWest, Kensington. I worked for Tonic365, The Lotus Exchange and Yogoloji providing corporate yoga classes in London, including at The London Business School and taught individuals one-to-one  in their homes/workplaces. During this time, I also assisted photojournalist Leisa Tyler in India conducting Ayurvedic spa hotel reviews, modelled and advised for Harper Collins/Hamlyn published yoga books and organised and led yoga retreats in Barbados, Indonesia, Italy and Morocco.

I practiced Ashtanga Yoga in Pattabhi Jois, Saraswati Jois and Sharath Jois’ London workshops from 2002 onwards and at the K.Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute (KPJAYI) in Mysore, India, for extended periods from 2006 onward. I am grateful to have practiced and studied yoga with Sharath Jois, who gave me Authorisation to Teach Ashtanga Yoga (Level 1) in 2010 and I attended a further training course for teachers with Sharath Jois later that year.

From 2009-2018 my husband, Emanuele Rossi and I established Ashtanga Yoga Oxford and co-taught Oxford’s first daily Mysore Style Ashtanga Yoga programme, for all ages and abilities; I also taught Birthlight™ pre-natal and post-natal yoga classes, children’s yoga and family yoga classes; specialised in private yoga classes for individuals and groups in their homes and offices in Oxford and London, tailoring yoga to their specific needs; taught yoga classes at the University of Oxford and community centres in Oxford; and organised and led annual yoga retreats in Italy during this time.

In mid 2018 we moved to rural Tuscany continuing our annual yoga retreats and developing a yoga studio for the local community, where we continue to practice and teach yoga guiding people of all ages to attune to their own unique expression of health and wellbeing.

I offer classes in Ashtanga yoga, Hatha yoga including meditation and pranayama, yoga for pregnancy, postnatal yoga, family yoga, yoga for children and teenagers.
